U.S. Mine Mine Makers Inc. acquires claims.
U.S. Mine Makers, Inc. (UMKR) OTC MARKETS has
been successful in acquiring claims totaling
1389 hectares (3400 acres) of land in the
northern portion of the Athabasca Basin. The
claims are adjacent to Uranium City, a once
thriving center of the uranium industry in
Canada. Most of the infrastructure, such as
roads, hydro-electricity, water, roads and
airport, stores and warehousing are in place.
This will greatly enhance the process of
exploration by reducing costs due to less
expenditure necessary for infrastructure by by
utilizing existing services.
During the times of uranium production five
mines actively produced uranium ore. The largest
producer the Cayzor Athabasca Mine produced 187
tons of uranium while the other mines shipped
ore to nearby concentrators. The other producers
in the area were Rix Smitty, Rix Leonard St.
Michael, Consolidated Beta Gamma. These mines
were closed abruptly when the Canadian, USA, and
British Governments ceased stockpiling uranium.
The only use for uranium at that time was for
military purposes, as nuclear power generation
was not developed at that time.
Recently, Rare Earth Elements (REEs) were
discovered in the area. From 1990 to 1995 the
Governments of Canada and Saskatchewan
cooperated in REE exploration in the Uranium
City area. Approximately 2300 samples were taken
and the results have been published in a two
volume report. Some of the samples taken showed
indications that possibly good results may be
obtained for REEs in the area. Presently
information on REEs is being collected for
future use.
UMKR is presently seeking ways to enhance the
value of the claims through joint ventures.
